Dr. Bierman

Dr. Thomas Bierman is a board-certified gastroenterologist whose journey in medicine began at the University of Louisville, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in cellular physiology, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2013. He went on to complete his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2018, laying a strong academic foundation for his future in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Dr. Bierman completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Louisville, where he gained experience in academic, private, VA, and outpatient hospital settings. He then pursued fellowship training in Gastroenterology at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, where he served as Chief Fellow. During his fellowship, he provided comprehensive care to gastroenterology patients in both academic and private hospital settings, performing a wide range of general GI procedures including diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, colonoscopy, video capsule endoscopy, and paracentesis. He has also served on quality improvement committees and mentoring programs, always striving to enhance patient care and medical education.

After completing his gastroenterology fellowship, he pursued further training in advanced therapeutic endoscopy at University Hospital-Cleveland Medical Center as the Sivak Advanced Endoscopy Fellow. While there he trained in additional specialized procedures to manage disorders of the pancreas, liver, biliary tree, and small bowel, as well as advanced polyp resection techniques.

An active contributor to clinical research, Dr. Bierman has co-authored more than a dozen abstracts and presentations at national conferences including the American College of Gastroenterology, Digestive Disease Week, and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. His research interests span complex conditions such as gastroparesis, portal vein thrombosis, biliary stents, and gastrointestinal complications related to oncology and infectious diseases.

Dr. Bierman is a member of several esteemed medical organizations, including the American College of Gastroenterology, American College of Physicians, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Medical Association. His dedication to advancing the field of gastroenterology is matched by a genuine compassion for patients and a collaborative approach to care.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Bierman enjoys spending time with his family, grilling, and exploring the outdoors through hunting, fishing, frogging, and turtling. His well-rounded nature, clinical excellence, and deep commitment to his patients make him a valued member of Gastroenterology Health Partners and the communities we serve.
